President’s Message
December 13, 2021 Greetings OAPSO Members:
It is with much pride, humility and an infinite sense of honor and privilege that I communicate with the OAPSO Membership as the newly re-elected President. As a four-term OAPSO President, I wish to thank the board of Directors, on behalf of the Membership, for the trust placed in me in leading this fine property standards organization again, for the 2021-2022 term.
Welcome to returning OAPSO Board of Directors Allison Henshall, Derek Petch, Dave Chatwell, Stephen Jamieson, Jennifer Therkelsen and our Administrative Secretary, Craig Calder. A warm welcome is extended to our new incoming OAPSO Board of Directors Mary Beth McMullen, Kristen VanDerGeld, Harinder Singh, Alex Wray, Caitlan Deevey and Carleton Grant. The make-up of the 2021-2022 Board of Directors affords the Association a wide girth of knowledge and experience and I am confident the team will advance the association’s priorities and values in the traditional manner with which OAPSO has always operated – striving for excellence in all our professional endeavors.
On behalf of the membership, a hearty thank you is being extended to Immediate Past President Philip Cassata for his many years of dedicated, unwavering, and unconditional volunteer service to the Association, that included leading the Association during the seemingly endless pandemic. Philip leaves a distinct list of contributions and accomplishments for our current Board members, to aspire to. Although Philip’s day-to-day contributions will be missed, he remains on the OAPSO Board as the sitting Immediate Past President, he served our Board/Association faithfully, and Philip merits our collective thanks and best wishes for his future endeavors.
The 2022 OAPSO Annual Training Seminar is being held in Kingston, Ontario at St. Lawrence College from May 15-20, 2022. We look forward to being back in the classrooms to deliver our Provincially approved Property Standards Certification Training Program and seeing all the delegates/students in person as this pandemic (hopefully), ends. Please visit our OAPSO website for further details and registration information, for all the courses being offered in 2022.
Finally, thank you to the municipalities and the membership at large for the continued support of the Association and on behalf of the Board of Directors entrusted to serve, we will continue to serve the membership and our service industry, as always, with your best interests in mind.
Sincerely yours, Italo Joe Luzi, CPSO, MLEO, CMM III, Property Standards Executive OAPSO-President
